The Camrose & District Centennial Museum received a grant November 05, 2010 from Alberta Museums Association to hire a Data Entry Clerk. We retained Alyssa Sharp, a history student at Augustana who also worked here as an interpretive programmer summer 2009 and as the Data Entry Clerk from November 2009.
The project was undertaken due to results from projects starting in 2006. In 2006, the Camrose & District Centennial Museum reviewed its collections and collection management practices. We identified several areas desperately in need of assistance in order to align them with accepted standards of practice. The first two projects primarily dealt with preservation of our largest collections, textiles and paper and photos, in which they were preserved, relabelled, and rehoused in our new storage room. We also purchased an integrated collections management software package, Past Perfect, in which we are in the process of transferring and updating all the Museum’s catalogue records into the new database.
We currently have a large number of our artefacts completely in the Past Perfect database with photos and location as well as exact descriptions, maker, dimensions, condition and general condition notes which will preserve Alberta’s heritage through accurate record management.
