The Camrose & District Centennial Museum currently has nearly 3000 artifacts in its textiles collection. Hats, shoes, clothing, quilts, and accessories range in age from the 1860’s to the 1960’s. Over the past year, the museum has been working to bring this important collection up to current preservation and storage standards.
This has been made possible in part through funding from the Alberta Museums Association in the amount of $5800, in addition to hundreds of hours of volunteer and staff time. The museum would like to gratefully acknowledge the Alberta Museums Association as well as the volunteers for making this project possible. Through this support, the museum is better able to preserve the history of Camrose for present and future generations.
In addition, the newly stored and organized textiles collection will provide more accessible learning and research opportunities to the public.
